In the late 1990s The Society spearheaded the development of The Old Trails, a unique 12-kilometer hiking trail that links Salvage and Sandy Cove to the site of several abandoned communities on the peninsula.
In 2001 it opened The Beaches Heritage Centre, the centrepiece of the Society's operations, and the following year reinstated the Agricultural Exhibition which had previously operated from the mid-1930s to 1949. This Thanksgiving weekend event has become one of the most successful agricultural exhibitions in the province.
Today The Society continues its involvement in all these projects, as well as assisting with the operation of The Salvage Fisherman's Museum and the possible establishment of an Agricultural Museum in the Eastport area.
